Hulu’s Prison Break Reboot Adds Seven New Actors

We reported before that Hulu wants to bring Prison Break back, a concept that has been brought back before. The difference is that this time, it would be a whole new story with entirely new characters. We don’t know if they came to this decision on their own, but it’s really the only way they CAN go with this, as Wentworth Miller will no longer play characters who don’t share his orientation. Scofield is not coming back.

Emily Browning (“American Gods”) will play the main character, an ex-soldier who becomes a corrections officer “at one of the deadliest prisons in America to prove just how far she’ll go for someone she loves.” This time, the main POV will not be from someone who needs to break out of prison, so…who does? It could be any of the following cast members: Drake Rodger (“The Winchesters”), Lukas Gage (“The White Lotus”), Clayton Cardenas (“The Cleaning Lady”), JR Bourne (“Teen Wolf”), Georgie Flores (“Famous in Love”) and Myles Bullock (“BMF”).

And today we learned of seven more. Noah Emmerich (Murdaugh: Death in the Family, Dark Winds) is Callum Faulls, a highly respected West Virginia power broker. Catfish Jean (Sugar, American Sports Story: Aaron Hernandez) is Big Country, an intimidating member of a prison gang (if that song just entered your head, it also entered mine). Augie Duke (Mayans M.C.) is Iris, a prisoner who shares a deep maternal bond with one of the characters. Brad Beyer (Jericho) is Captain David Ryan, a corrections officer captain. Greg Vrotsos (Mayans M.C.) is Dempsey, a prison guard with a strong sense of loyalty. Daniel David Stewart (Catch-22, Reacher) is Cody, a new convict unprepared for life in prison. Finally Michael Mosley (Ballard) is Maynard Gibbs, a by-the-book lieutenant.

Elgin James of Mayans M.C. is the showrunner of the new Prison Break, as well as the head writer and executive producer, and he will share that latter title alongside series creator Paul Scheuring and original executive producers Dawn Olmstead, Marty Adelstein and Neal Moritz. Hulu hasn’t slapped a release date on the show, but it is inevitable at this point.
