Most creators of low-budget indie horror movies prefer to stay in that lane, but Terror Films has decided to get a little bold. They’ll soon be introducing their very first TV series, The Dead Hour, on digital platforms.
Created by Daniel B. Iske & Scott Coleman, The Dead Hour is an anthology series starring the voice of Melissa Holder as a “twisted radio announcer” who introduces one creepy story to her listening audience every night. This frame is used to present a variety of short horror stories, each with a different cast.
Iske and Coleman say they were looking to the classic series The Twilight Zone for inspiration — a show that itself could get spooky at times. “For over a year we would come up with hundreds of short story ideas before finally narrowing it down to the dozen or so that we wanted to do first. Each episode has a different cast which gave us an opportunity to work with a vast array of talent. Our stories definitely are rooted in our commentary on today’s world and culture. We have our external monsters but also, we delve into the monsters inside us as well.”
The Dead Hour will be free to watch on ad-supported streamers like Tubi, but Amazon Prime will be carrying it as well. All twelve episodes of the series will premiere May 12.
