The New York Game Awards were held last night, and once again, Margot Robbie got shut out….wait, never mind, she has nothing to do with it. If you were disappointed with the Game Awards you might appreciate the Gotham variant better, which has fewer categories, a more varied nomination lineup and no Keighley.
In fact unlike The Game Awards (or the Oscars, or the Emmys) nothing truly “swept” the ceremony and hogged all the trophies. Though the New York Game Awards results were more balanced, you can probably guess what won Game Of The Year. Baldur’s Gate also won Best Writing, while Hi-Fi Rush was given a well-deserved award for Best Music. Super Mario Bros Wonder won “Best Kids Game” (even though far more people than just kids play Mario) and the “Legend Award” was given to Last of Us creator Neil Druckmann.
