He is Psychometric is about a person who is psychometric, i.e. he has the ability to analyze a person or an object by touching them and can see the past. Such a gift comes in handy for police detectives and prosecutors who are trying to solve crimes. Lee Ahn has this gift, although he wonders why he has “the ability to read peoples’ pasts”. Logically … ??? … “Isn’t seeing the future better?” When he was about 8 years old, he realized he was able to touch a person or an object and see the past. As a child, it frightened him, but as he got older he began to accept that this ability might be a good thing.
Lee Ahn is fortunate in life because even though tragedy befell him at a young age, there were two people in his life who supported him: Kang Sung-Mo and Yoon Jae-In.
1) Kang Sung-Mo risked his life to save Lee Ahn and himself by jumping out of the window of a burning building. They both lost their parents in the fire, and Kang Sung-Mo accepted Lee Ahn as a little brother. Together they would become strong and survive this tragedy. When Kang Sung-Mo realized that Lee Ahn had a gift, he made up his mind to find a way to help him develop that ability and use it for good. When Kang Sung-Mo grew up, he became a prosecutor.
2) Yoon Jae-In met both Kang Sung-Mo and Lee Ahn when she was young. Her father was in prison because he was wrongfully accused of starting the fire that burned down the building where they all lived. Kang Sung-Mo knew he was not the culprit but could not prove it. All Lee Ahn knew was that he was 8 years old when his parents died in that fire and he could touch a person or an object and see the past. Once when he was crying, he saw a young girl also crying. He tried to comfort her by offering her a piece of candy. How could he know they would meet again years later?
Kang Sung-Mo believed that Yoon Jae-In could help Lee Ahn develop his psychometric abilities. Yoon Jae-In constantly transferred to different schools because she did not want people to know her father was in prison. Secretly, Kang Sung-Mo kept track of her movements and donated money through a church to help her and her aunt with their living expenses. He also arranged for Yoon Jae-In to transfer to the same high school Lee Ahn attended.
As hoped for, Lee Ahn did meet Yoon Jae-In in high school and they became friends. She accidentally discovered he was psychometric. But just as their friendship was beginning to grow, she disappeared. When he visited her vacant home, he found a photo she had left behind. That’s when he recognized her and realized she was the girl he had offered a piece of candy. But now she was gone. Where did she go? Will they ever meet again?
Several years passed. Kang Sung-Mo continued working as a prosecutor. Lee Ahn graduated from high school but was unemployed and lived with his big brother. Yoon Jae-In began working as a police officer. When their paths crossed again this time, Kang Sung-Mo re-introduced himself. When Lee Ahn and Yoon Jae-In met again they were happy to reunite and continue their friendship. Yoon Jae-In knew that Lee Ahn was psychometric. Kang Sung-Mo explained to her that she could help Lee Ahn learn how to use psychometry to solve crimes.
What Kang Sung-Mo really wanted to do was use Lee Ahn’s psychometric abilities to catch the real criminal who caused the fire years ago. However, the real culprit also had plans and he had been watching Kang Sung-Mo, Lee Ahn, and Yoon Jae-In ever since the fire.
Evidently, Kang Sung-Mo knew who the culprit was, and hoped that Lee Ahn’s psychometry could help catch that murderer. Lee Ahn had an almost deadly encounter when he came face-to-face with the killer. Yoon Jae-In did not know the killer had been stalking her until it was too late and he had kidnapped her.
Since he will not relent, there are only 2 possible endings. Either they will catch him OR he will kill them?
My personal rating aligns with the Viki viewing audience. I added this K-drama series to my watch list because of Jin Young and his performance did not disappoint.
