I’m old enough to remember a time when HBO wasn’t known for “prestige television.” The appeal of an HBO Original was that they could drop F-bombs and show boobs and that was it. That perception started changing with the arrival of one particular crime drama in early 1999. The Sopranos was not only a great show but elevated the class of the network it was on, inspiring them to take a chance on better-written programs and get rid of stuff like “Arli$$.”
Anyway, Tony Soprano and his family are 25! And their parent company has a lot planned to celebrate. Max sent us a letter detailing all the Sporanos-related things you can experience in 2024. This week alone there will be newly released deleted scenes, special events in New York and LA, and even a TikTok with 25-second clips from each episode.
There was more, but the letter got cut off in mid-sentence. All episodes of The Sopranos are streamable on Max and still buyable on disc.
