First Taste Of Rick And Morty Season 7

-

The way Adult Swim was talking during SDCC, it sounded like the seventh season of Rick and Morty wouldn’t be ready anytime soon. Though the production crew has settled into a rhythm reliable enough to produce one season each year (instead of every two years), a wrench was thrown into the works when co-creator Justin Roiland fell into scandals and was fired in disgrace.

According to the crew, Roiland has not been a serious part of the show’s writing for years, meaning there shouldn’t be much change there. The real challenge lies in the fact that he was the voice for both Rick Sanchez and Morty Smith. AS has confirmed they are NOT doing what Solar Opposites did (which was to just hire someone who sounded completely different and then handwave it). It could take a while to find someone who can perfectly imitate both those characters, so we should expect a delay, right?

Maybe not. AS just released a short teaser for Season 7 on Twitter. It suggests we could learn the premiere date as soon as next week, and that it’s actually possible for the season to appear this fall. Also, the world is a vampire.

We have no idea how this is arriving on time. Assuming they’ve already found the new Rick, there’s also this SAG-AFTRA strike fouling things up. Maybe the VAs aren’t union? It’s a mystery for now.

By the way, in case your memories of the previous season are foggy, there are no new clips there — it’s all from Season 6. But it does suggest the hunt for Rick Prime will be a major focus of the next season. Rick and Morty airs all the time on Adult Swim, and anytime it doesn’t, it can be seen on Max.
