Fear The Walking Dead And Other AMC Shows To Stream On….Max?

-

Remember when the booming streaming business was so cutthroat that all the studios were hoarding their own shows behind massive walls of steel and refusing to share? That was….like, ten minutes ago. We guess times change in a blink these days. AMC Networks made the surprising announcement this morning that they’ve made a deal with Warner Bros to put some of their shows on Max, a competing service.

AMC has been trying for a few years to get their own service, AMC+ , off the ground. If you tune into AMC at any given time, assuming you still have cable, you’ll see an ad for AMC+ and if you watch a show, they’ll tell you new episodes premiere on the streaming channel a week before they show up on cable. This new swerve from the company may indicate they’re cooling on the whole idea of self-ownership.

AMC and Max’s newfound friendship will add the following shows to the latter’s library starting September 1: Fear The Walking Dead, Killing Eve, A Discovery Of Witches, Gangs Of London, Ride With Norman Reedus, Dark Winds, and Anne Rice’s Interview With The Vampire. In the case of shows that are still running, the latest seasons will not be included — AMC’s still keeping ’em to themselves.

In the event you haven’t seen any of those shows and are interested in checking them out, I can tell you what to do: skip everything before Morgan shows up in Fear The Walking Dead (which should be the first three seasons or so). Killing Eve is, mostly, an excellent series with the career-defining performance of Jodie Comer as childlike assassin Villanelle, but once you get to the end of Season 3 and the bridge scene, you can stop there. That’s the ending you want. If you watch Season 4, you will regret it.

As for Discovery of Witches, it’s a faithful adaption of the best-selling book trilogy, but I wish it wasn’t so boring. The last thing you need to know is these shows have a time limit: AMC’s deal with Max will last only until October 31.
