Everything Marvel Studios Announced At Their SDCC Panel

-

OverĀ  the weekend Marvel Srudios’ SDCC panel was one of the largest of the con, despite general public interest in the franchise continuing to flounder. Avengers Doomsday may be their last real chance for a rebound, but what have they got beyond that?

There are still some names that put butts in seats. Something like Ant-Man 4 probably wouldn’t do well, but Black Panther has yet to bomb. A third movie was announced at SDCC, with Ryan Coogler returning to direct and a third Panther putting on the suit. That’s right, Shuri’s time as BP was rather short. It turns out T’Challa has a son, who I don’t remember showing up in either movie at all. It may be a retcon, but it’s how we get a third movie. David Jonsson (Alien: Romulus, The Long Walk) has been cast and the movie is set for December 15, 2028.

Ryan Gosling showed up at the panel to reveal Marvel is working on a new Ghost Rider film and he’s been cast as Fire Skull Head himself. It’s a role that’s been associated with Nic Cage for so long I wonder if people will accept anyone else. We’ll find out sometime in 2028.

As for Avengers Doomsday, Marvel confirmed a few more cast members: Hayley Atwell as Peggy Carter (I mean, she better show up if Steve Rogers is there), and Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool. Actually Marvel didn’t outright say Deadpool was in Doomsday, but it’s been confirmed that it was really Reynolds in the costume, and I don’t see why they’d go to that much trouble if he wasn’t part of it.

Finally Avengers Endgame will be re-released in theaters shortly before Doomsday hits, on September 25, and contain some new never-before-seen footage and an exclusive look at Doomsday.
