Dead by Daylight :Tokyo Ghoul Chapter, Kaneki Takes His Place as a Killer

-

Dead by Daylight‘s next licensed chapter is set to bring a surprising twist to the asymmetrical horror game– Tokyo Ghoul. While most Dead by Daylight killers are traditional villains, this chapter marks the first time an anime hero takes on the role of a killer. Ken Kaneki, known as “The Ghoul” in Dead by Daylight and the protagonist of Tokyo Ghoul, is stepping into the Fog, but not as the hero fans know him to be.

Kaneki is widely recognized as a tragic hero in both the anime and manga, a character who struggles with his dual nature as a human-turned-ghoul. However, in Dead by Daylight, he will be portrayed from an alternate timeline where he has been brainwashed, making him a relentless and terrifying predator. His transition into the world of the Entity doesn’t feel out of place at all, Tokyo Ghoul’s dark themes, grotesque transformations, and intense psychological horror fit seamlessly into the game’s grim aesthetic.

Fans can expect Kaneki to bring his signature abilities into Dead by Daylight, possibly incorporating his kagune (the ghoul’s unique predatory appendages) as a powerful attack mechanic. This crossover is sure to excite both Dead by Daylight players and Tokyo Ghoul fans alike, offering a fresh take on what it means to be a killer in the Fog.

Kaneki’s Perks

Kaneki’s gameplay will be further enhanced by his unique perks, making him a formidable force within the game:

No New Survivor, But a Legendary Skin

This chapter will not introduce a new Survivor, but it will include a Legendary Skin for Kaneki. Rize Kamishiro, the ghoul responsible for Kaneki’s transformation, will be available as an alternate appearance. To distinguish her from Kaneki, Rize will perform the iconic Yandere pose popularized by Yuno Gasai before executing a kill, making her stand out with her own distinct menace.

Additional Tokyo Ghoul-Themed Skins

Alongside Kaneki and Rize, several Killers and Survivors will receive Tokyo Ghoul-inspired outfits:

Defending Kaneki as a Killer

For fans upset about Kaneki becoming a killer, consider this: Would you rather face him as a killer, or be hunted by Chucky, or by Suzy of the Legion, a 14-year-old girl wielding a broken wooden ruler? Even Alucard from Castlevania seems helpless as a Survivor in Dead by Daylight. Lara Croft, who has defeated gods, is also vulnerable to being taken out by Ghostface. In the same vein, Kaneki’s shift into the role of a killer fits well into the game’s diverse, boundary-pushing roster.

Adding to the authenticity, Natsuki Hanae, who voiced Kaneki in the anime’s Japanese dub, reprises his role in Dead by Daylight. This ensures that Kaneki’s portrayal stays true to the character fans know and love, even in this darker iteration.

With this addition, Behaviour Interactive continues to push the boundaries of horror crossovers, proving that even anime protagonists can become nightmares under the right circumstances.
