It may just now be getting warm outside, but things will be really cooking when DC’s latest comics hit the stands in August. Here’s what they have planned for those Dog Days…
The Dark Crisis continues! In the third issue (look away if you don’t want spoilers yet), a living member of the Justice League has been found: Hal Jordan! One man can’t possibly be enough to stop Pariah’s entire army, but Hal’s going to give it his best shot. He’s going it solo because all the other replacement heroes are busy with their own problems on Earth (and also, he’s the only one among them who can survive in space). The battle rages on August 2, and look for the expanded tie-ins Dark Crisis: Worlds Without A Justice League on August 9 and Dark Crisis: Young Justice on August 16.
Batman: One Bad Day is a new Prestige Format series spotlighting the Dark Knight’s greatest enemies, one issue at a time. There will be eight of these and the first will focus on The Riddler. Future volumes will focus on Two-Face, the Penguin, Mr. Freeze, Catwoman, Bane, Clayface, and Ra’s al Ghul. Look for this one, written by Tom King and drawn by Mitch Gerads, August 16.
Azrael is coming back, and no one is less happy about that fact than Jean-Paul Valley himself. But when he runs into a young woman who’s been given the same System programming he has, he feels he has no choice but to suit up once more to protect her. He was THIS close to becoming a monk, for crying out loud. The story is told in Sword of Azrael, a six-issue series that sees its first release August 2.
Another Harley Quinn comic related to the animated series is coming out, this one a one-shot. Hopefully, by the time it shows up, we’ll have Season 3 for real. Subtitled The Real Sidekicks Of New Gotham, the story takes the form of a trashy reality show hosted by Tawny Young. We are promised appearances from Clayface, Batgirl and Frank the Plant. Writers from the previous Harley cartoon comic AND the animated series were involved in this one. Harley Quinn The Animated Series: The Real Sidekicks Of New Gotham will be released August 30…
….and in the lead-up, FOUR issues of the regular Harley Quinn series will be released in the same month, followed by a 48-page annual on the same day (August 30). That enough spunky blondes with New Yawk accents for you?
