DC’s July 2026 solicitations frame themselves around Superman at opposite ends of his own timeline. Action Comics #1100 celebrates 1,100 issues of the flagship with four writers splitting a single anniversary book, while the Superman 2026 Annual: Year One Thousand #1 pushes the character forward into his post-DC K.O. endgame, stripped of the Heart of Apokolips and using Time Trapper’s powers to repair a future Darkseid has already poisoned.
Alongside the Superman anniversary, the month is dense. Eight Absolute titles ship together. The Bat-family adds a new launch in Clayface: Celebrity Dirt #1 on top of ongoing issues of Batman, Detective Comics, Nightwing, and Batgirl. Tom Taylor and Otto Schmidt come back to their medieval Elseworld with Dark Knights of Steel II #1. Brian Azzarello and Eduardo Risso return to 100 Bullets for the first new arc in years with The US of Anger #1.
There is no single headline event driving July. As with last month’s lineup, several things are happening at once. The main continuity is still working through DC K.O. fallout. The Absolute Universe runs parallel on its own calendar. A heavy archive pass on facsimiles and deluxe editions sits next to four or five new #1s.
Action Comics #1100 is the kind of anniversary issue DC saves for round-number stops. Mark Waid, Joshua Williamson, Sophie Campbell, and Dan Slott split the script four ways, with art from Skylar Patridge, Ryan Sook, Daniel Sampere, Dan Mora, and Lucas Meyer. The book calls back to Action Comics #1 in 1938 and uses the anniversary to set up where the character goes next.
At the other end of the timeline, the Superman 2026 Annual: Year One Thousand #1 picks up after DC K.O., with Superman rejecting the Heart of Apokolips and disappearing into the future. Joshua Williamson writes, with Eddy Barrows and Yasmine Putri on art. Superman’s godlike powers are fading as he tries to undo the damage Darkseid’s Legion inflicted on the 31st century. The anniversary issue and the annual read like bookends of the same story.
The DC K.O. bleed carries into several ongoings. In Justice League: Knight Vision Special #1, Mark Waid and Joshua Williamson put Batman and Lex Luthor on a forced team-up as the Justice League‘s amnesty program opens a power vacuum for a new villain to exploit. Absolute Superman #21 opens “Reign of the Superman” with Jason Aaron and Rafa Sandoval on a final battle against King Shazam. Batman #11 continues Matt Fraction and Jorge Jiménez‘s run as Vandal Savage‘s corrupt GCPD keeps its grip on Gotham’s underworld.
Tom Taylor and Otto Schmidt return to their medieval Elseworld with Dark Knights of Steel II #1, a twelve-issue continuation paired with the one-shot Heir to the Sea #1. Jude Ellison S. Doyle and Fran Galán open Clayface: Celebrity Dirt #1, a six-issue miniseries about Basil Karlo trying to stage his Hollywood comeback only to find that somebody has already stolen his career. DC’s Hawk-Girl Summer #1 runs 80 pages of anthology stories across nearly a dozen creators.
The biggest Black Label book of the month is 100 Bullets: The US of Anger #1. Brian Azzarello and Eduardo Risso are back on their franchise after years away, picking up with Lono after the fall of the Trust across an eight-issue arc printed entirely in black and white. The rest of the Black Label lineup continues with Swamp Thing 1989 #4, The Nice House by the Sea #11, Bleeding Hearts #6, End of Life #6, and The Peril of the Brutal Dark: An Ezra Cain Mystery #6.
Showcase #4 Facsimile Edition is the heaviest archive book of the month. It reprints Barry Allen‘s 1956 debut, the issue most commonly cited as the start of the Silver Age. DC Finest: Events: Crisis on Infinite Earths Part Two runs 568 pages of fallout from the 1985 event, pulling Wolfman and Pérez alongside outer-ring work from Alan Moore on Swamp Thing and Todd McFarlane on Infinity, Inc. The Dark Knight Returns gets both a new standard edition and a separate deluxe reissue this month, and Absolute Batman Vol. 3 ships with the Absolute Power Omnibus on the collection side.
