Crunchyroll Debuts English Trailer For Solo Leveling: ReAwakening

This December Crunchyroll and Sony Pictures Entertainment will present Solo Leveling: ReAwakening, a movie version of the anime based on the Korean manhwa by Clugong. Keep in mind this is an “omnibus” film, meaning it’s a re-edit of the first season into a movie format.

But if you want something new, ReAwakening has that too: stick around and you’ll see the world premiere of the first two episodes from Solo Leveling’s second season. For an entire month, this will be the only way to see these episodes until their proper premiere in January.

And now we’re hearing both the original Japanese and English versions will be screened, for the movie and the episode premieres. The episodes will retain the same cast, including Aleks Le (Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba) as Sung Jinwoo, Justin Briner (My Hero Academia) as Yoo Jinho, Rebecca Wang (Aether Gazer) as his sister Sung Jinah, Michelle Rojas (Hell’s Paradise) as the deadly S-rank hunter Cha Hae-in, Ian Sinclair (One Piece) as Choi Jong-in, Christopher R. Sabat (Dragon Ball Z) as Baek Yoonho, Kent Williams (Dragon Ball Z) as Go Gunhee, SungWon Cho (Ranking of Kings) as Woo Jinchul, and Dani Chambers (The Ancient Magus’ Bride) as Lee Joohee.

The world of Solo Leveling is one that has been transformed by a portal to another dimension. The anomaly gave certain people superhuman powers, who are now referred to as “Hunters” because they make their living venturing through dungeons, slaying monsters that threaten humanity. You’ve seen a shonen or two before, so you can probably guess the protagonist of this story wishes he was a good Hunter but is incredibly weak, UNTIL he discovers a unique ability only he can possess. It’s the ability to “level up,” which means Sung Jinwoo can increase his power through fighting experience, just like in a video game. Thus, the meaning of the title.

Solo Leveling: ReAwakening comes to theaters in the United States and Canada on December 6, 2024 (IMAX will get it a couple days earlier on December 4). Season 2 starts January 2025.
