Developer Relative Games has announced its customizable shmup, CounterAttack Uprising, will be arriving on Nintendo Switch in the third quarter of 2023. The game was originally released in 2019 for PC, and later made its way to XBox.
The pictures and video suggest CounterAttack Uprising is your typical bullet-hell shooter, so what does the “customizable” part mean? It first means you have the ability to choose from eight different characters, each with their own unique ship, but it gets more in-depth from there. As you play the game, you’ll unlock new weapons, powers and upgrades, and can modify your ship any way you like. There are over 600 attachments to find, meaning no two games will be the same.
“Being on a Nintendo console is a dream come true,” says Tyler Boyes, founder of Relative Games. “To mark the occasion, the Switch port of CounterAttack is introducing a new subtitle – Uprising – which puts the spotlight on the game’s sprawling narrative. Once we launch on Switch, all other versions will get the Uprising moniker as well.”
The Switch version of CounterAttack Uprising is expected to launch sometime this fall. The price is unknown, but on Steam and XBox its regular price is $14.99.
