Chicken Run: Dawn of the Nugget, A sequel 22 Years in the making

-

Chicken Run: Dawn of the Nugget is a sequel that is 22 years in the making. My sister got a Vegan phase after watching this movie years ago. It will make you sympathize to chickens.  In a world where every animated movie is now using CGI, it is a nostalgic change to see Claymation again. Fans of the original though must watch this movie with an open mind because many of the Original actors will not be returning. Julia Sawalha and Mel Gibson will not be reprising Ginger and Rocky.

Zachary Levi and Thandiwe Newton will be taking over the roles of the lead chickens. Jane Horrocks and Lynn Ferguson will be the only returning actors from the original. They secured the roles of Mac and Babs again. In the first film the chickens escaped Tweedy’s farm. They almost became ingredients of Chicken Pot Pie because after the Hens starts having low production of eggs. Fresh from the success of The Last of Us, Bella Ramsey also joins the cast as Molly.  Benjamin Whitrow died in 2017 so the role of Fowler is given to David Bradley. The first film made $ 227.8 million and it has a cult following, It took Netflix to make this sequel happen.

Chicken Run: Dawn of the Nugget teaser trailer

In the teaser, Rocky and Ginger are excited because their egg is about to hatch. The Legs of the chick pops out of the egg and it walked a way and fell. Egg with legs is something that reminds me of the character Sheldon from Garfield. Ginger and her Gang of Chicken are now living peacefully in a bird sanctuary away from their greatest predator, the humans. Ginger always wanted to be a mother but her eggs were never fertile since the only rooster on the farm was Fowler (David Bradley) who is elder. Now that she is with Rocky, her dreams of starting a family comes true. There is a new  threat coming  to their sanctuary and Ginger and her friends take a risk for the sake of their freedom and safety.

Chicken Run: Dawn of the Nugget is coming to Netflix this December 2023.
