Memorable Quote: “Dad???”

SUMMARY: A former U.S. intelligence operative must confront the daughter he abandoned. His daughter thought he was dead. A deadly assassin was sent to hunt him. He just might die this time.

♦ But My Dad Died (???)

“Butterfly” follows David Jung (played by Daniel Dae Kim), a former U.S. intelligence operative who has spent years in self-imposed exile in South Korea, attempting to bury the violence of his past and build a quiet life. David once belonged to an elite clandestine unit that specialized in covert operations across the globe. He chose to disappear by faking his own death.

A shadowy private intelligence organization has decided to come after him. But the threat isn’t faceless enemies or geopolitical chess pieces. The threat is named Rebecca (played by Reina Hardesty), a lethal young operative. Rebecca is his estranged daughter.

Their story is more than a chase. David and Rebecca’s relationship is fractured by years of separation and secrets. Rebecca’s conditioning as an assassin has shaped her view of the world, one where trust is a liability, and emotional vulnerability a weakness. David, conversely, carries the burden of past choices while trying to pierce the emotional walls Rebecca has built around herself. Their relationship dynamic becomes the emotional nucleus of the series. Viewers are drawn deeper into a world where identity is fluid, and betrayal can come from those closest to you. The pathways of reconciliation between a father and daughter are complicated, as they have lost years because of secrecy.
