Beetlejuice 2 Release Date Confirmed

-

It’s 200% real, folks…the Ghost with the Most is really returning this year. The first piece of marketing for Beetlejuice 2 appeared this morning from Warner Bros, and it came with a surprise: the release date AND a confirmed title, which wasn’t what anyone was expecting. It’s being called “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice.”

Most reactions to this seem to be positive. (It’s better than “Beetlejuice Goes Hawaiian” at least.) But some have questioned why the title doesn’t say his name THREE times, since saying it just twice wouldn’t work. The answer is obvious: because WB is implying they hope for a #3 eventually and they’re saving it for whenever that comes. But if you think about it, if you put the first and second movies together on a shelf….THAT would do the trick.

The other cool thing about the poster is that it confirms what everybody’s been thinking all along: that a sequel would have to start with Beetlejuice still in that Underworld Waiting Room, sitting around for his extremely long number to be called. They thought about that too. And as the poster says, the wait is almost over.

All the major players (except the Maitlands but who cares about them) are back: Michael Keaton as Beetlejuice. Winona Ryder as Lydia, and Catherine O’Hara as Delia…but they’ll be joined by Jenna Ortega as Lydia’s daughter, since it’s been so long, and Monica Bellucci as Bettlejuice’s….WIFE??? Looks like he’s moved on from Lydia.

It’s nearly showtime. Beetlejuice 2 (aka Beetlejuice Beetlejuice) premieres in theaters September 6.
