Avatar was one of James Cameron‘s biggest films. It made $2.922 billion back in 2009. At first, I thought I would wait for 4 years to see the sequel, but it took 13 years before we got to return to the extrasolar moon, called Pandora. This extrasolar moon revolves around the gas giant planet Polyphemus. James Cameron once said he wanted to explore the nearby moons of Polyphemus. I wonder if this is that film.
Pandora is a moon where a species of human-cat hybrid creature called Na’vi resides. In the first film, humans who wanted to colonize this moon for its resources used Na’vi clones called Avatar. Pandora might be a moon that is full of life, but humans cannot breathe its cyanide-rich air. So through a machine, they temporarily transfer their consciousness through the avatars so they can interact with the Navi.
In the first film, Jake Sully, who is a paraplegic human from Earth, fell in love with the Neytiri. She is a female Navi warrior who fights to protect her world. Jake decided to betray the Earthlings, who had evil plans for the Navi people. He chose to stay in his Avatar and become one of them. The movie will take place a decade after the events of the first film. The surviving cast of the first movie will reprise their roles.
This is also Kate Winslet reunion project with James Cameron after Titanic. It is a smaller role but working with him again is a great honor. Also joining the cast is Michelle Yeoh.
Jake Sully(Jake Sully) lives with his newfound family on the Moon Pandora. When a recognizable threat returns to finish what was started before, Jake must work with Neytiri (Zoe Saldana) and the army of the Na’vi race to protect their planet.
