Introducing A.K.I., the latest DLC character for Street Fighter 6. This Mistress of Poison brings an aura of horror to the game, making her seem like she belongs in a different, more sinister realm. Capcom tantalizingly teased A.K.I. at Gamescom several weeks ago, unveiling a cutscene that gives players a glimpse of their avatar’s encounter with her during the world tour. While she appears amiable and sweet, an underlying menace taints her presence. A.K.I. doesn’t overtly act like a villain, yet an unsettling feeling hints that her intentions are far from benign, despite her affable and warm whispers. Her demeanor, as a friendly traditional medicine pharmacist, cleverly veils her nefarious designs.

A.K.I. stands as the protege of Street Fighter 5’s antagonist, Fang. However, unlike Fang’s mastery of Crane Kung Fu, A.K.I. wields the power of Snake Stance Kung Fu. This distinctive martial art sets her apart, intriguing players as they explore her combat style.

Notably, A.K.I.’s combat repertoire is intertwined with the art of poison, mirroring her mentor Fang. Her arsenal includes purple bubble projectiles capable of inflicting gradual damage upon any foe unfortunate enough to collide with them. A.K.I.’s fingers, adorned with venomous claws, serve as conduits for diverse herbal poisons that plague her adversaries upon contact.

Despite the shared toxin theme, A.K.I.’s fighting approach diverges from Fang’s, thanks to the fluidity and speed of Snake Kung Fu. Her movements mimic those of a serpent, and her ability to slither across the floor enables her to elegantly evade incoming projectile assaults. A.K.I.’s command grab showcases her flexibility as she ensnares opponents, subsequently delivering lethal blows with her lethal claws.

What sets A.K.I. apart is her subtle sadism, cloaked behind a veneer of friendliness. Each attack she executes is accompanied by a disconcerting smile, which, when coupled with her pallid skin and impassive eyes, evokes an eerie sensation. A.K.I.’s trailer features a showdown with Chun Li, another Chinese combatant. The contrast is evident – one is a dedicated policewoman and Kung Fu master committed to justice, while the other is a sadistic assassin striving to impress her mentor. A.K.I. views the act of ending lives as an art form, aptly describing it as her magnum opus.

The DLC character A.K.I. is slated for release on September 27, available for download across the World Tour and all modes of Street Fighter 6. Players are poised to embrace her unique gameplay, while simultaneously dreading her presence on the opposing side. Alongside her default appearance, A.K.I. also offers a second costume, a red lolita dress seemingly designed to project innocence. However, it’s clear that there’s nothing innocent about her.
