You’ll Have To Wait Until 2022 For Stranger Thngs 4
Were you assuming we’d be getting the fourth season of Stranger Things sometime this fall? So was I, but it goes to show how much assumptions are worth. Another teaser was released by Netflix today and it finally hammers down a release window for the season….kind of. It simply says “2022” which means we’ve got a wait of at LEAST another six months.
The teaser, like the ones before it, doesn’t reveal very much new footage, mostly reusing the “Eleven, are you listening?” stuff from the previous teaser back in May alongside clips from previous seasons. We do get one new shot, that of El being hauled away by government agents while sporting a new haircut. Ironically the most we’ve gotten to see from Season Four so far was from the VERY FIRST teaser released an eternity ago in February 2020, revealing Hopper’s fate in a Russian prison.
As one of Dustin’s heroes would say, “I have a bad feeling about this.” You have COVID slowing down everything so the kids will look like they’re 20 the next time we see them. You have a dozen new characters being added to a cast that’s already overcrowded. You have Season 3 ending on the most depressing cliffhanger yet, with El powerless, Hopper presumed dead by his friends, and every major couple separated by entire states (or in one case, entire countries). Then you have comments from actors who keep saying “WOW, this is the darkest season ever!” It makes me all worried that we’re in for the show’s first real dud season, where everyone is miserable and suffering and there’s just no FUN in it. I hope I’m wrong, because I want to be.
Stranger Things 4 premieres Whenever Day, 2022.
