Wonder Woman Currently 97% on Rotten Tomatoes
There’s been a lot of pressure on the upcoming Wonder Woman film to be not only great financially, but great with critics as well. You see, the films of the DCEU have done well financially so far far with Man of Steel, Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, and Suicide Squad, but those films have always been panned by critics and received “Rotten” ratings on film review aggregate website Rotten Tomatoes. This has led many to think that those films (despite all the money grossed) are partial failures. However, since the review embargo lifted on the Wonder Woman, the film has so far received strongly positive reviews from Rotten Tomatoes critics.
Currently, Wonder Woman has a rating of 97% on Rotten Tomatoes based off 78 reviews thus far, and only two have rated the movie “rotten.” This means that the comic book superhero film currently has a higher approval rating than all other Marvel and DC Comics films released ever. That includes Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight from 2008, which stands at 94%. However, by the time all the reviews are in, the film will likely not have a rating that high. This is good news for Warner Bros. considering some rumors deemed that Wonder Woman was “a bigger mess than BVS”. However, that does not seem to be the case here.
Of course, being a critical darling is only half the battle. With the film releasing June 2nd it needs to do just as well at the box office because Warner Bros. doesn’t want another half-victory. Given all the buzz around it, and now these positive reviews, we’d be very surprised if it didn’t do at least 100 million.
