Wonder Woman Film Will Be Set In WWI
Since its announcement, many have wondered when the upcoming Wonder Woman would be set time period wise. Mainly, cause they wanted to know how it would affect, or reflect, the character as we see her in Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice. Meaning, that in the film, we see her “persona” as Diana Prince, and it appears she’s been in their world for a while upon meeting Bruce and Clark. Then, rumors swirled that the solo film would be her origin story, and be set in wither WWI or WWII.
Well, speaking with the Toronto Sun, Chris Pine, who will be playing Steve Trevor, has officially confirmed that the film will indeed be set in WWI. All the while revealing some details about his character:
“Steve Trevor is a rogue-ish, cynical realist who’s seen the awful brutish nature of modern civilization,” Pine told the Toronto Sun. “He’s a worldly guy, a charming guy and it’s going to be a great, fun film. There are some incredibly deep, interesting and morally relevant themes.”
He went on to note, “it’s a period we don’t see often; it’s usually World War II.”
The Wonder Woman solo film is set to release June 23rd, 2017.
