If you’ve been reading the news the last few months, you’ll know that a lot of women, and even some men, have stepped forward to reveal that they’ve been harassed in the workplace on major TV shows, films, and other media. The #MeToo movement spread so far and so fast that everyone took notice, and changes were made to try and stop this from ever happening again. And in an interesting coincidence, the first film to feature new rules against harassment will be Wonder Woman 2.
“Sexual harassment can no longer be tolerated in our industry or within the ranks of the Producers Guild membership,” PGA presidents Gary Lucchesi and Lori McCreary said in a statement “As producers, we provide key leadership in creating and sustaining work environments built on mutual respect, so it is our obligation to change our culture and eradicate this abuse.”
“While the PGA is a voluntary membership organization,” they continued, “the PGA’s Anti-Sexual Harassment Guidelines are sanctioned as best practices for our members. The PGA is indebted to Time’s Up as a resource in creating our protocols. We will continue to work with them, the industry-wide Commission led by Anita Hill, and other organizations in our community until sexual harassment is eliminated from the entertainment workplace.”
Star Gal Gadot has been very vocal about this subject, and she’s all to happy to have this new policy in place for her film before it starts production. Wonder Woman 2 arrives November 1st, 2019.
