The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Offering Free DLC
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will feature at least sixteen pieces of DLC. Usually, this would be the point where you start groaning, but hold it in, because all of this DLC will be free. It’s also not tied to any special edition or retailer specific pre-order, or any pre-order at all, or any of the other usual nonsense you have to put up with to get a complete AAA game these days.
Marcin Iwiński, Co-founder and Joint CEO of Witcher 3 Developer CD PROJEKT RED, explained the company’s decision in an open letter.
The first DLC packs will be out Feb. 25, the day after the game launches, and will include the Temerian Armor Set, which they’re quick to point out does include horse armor, and a Beard and Hairstyle Set for protagonist Geralt.
According to the company’s press release, after that bundles will be released on a weekly basis. The second bundle coming March 4 will feature a new quest and a new look for Yennefer of Vengerberg, a character who motivates much of the action in the game.
The other bundles will be revealed each weekly after launch at the game’s website, thewitcher.com.
The game will be released Feb. 24 for Xbox One, PS4 and PC.
