Wii U launches November 18th, starting at $300
Nintendo have finally revealed both the release date and pricing for the Wii U.
The Wii U will come in two different forms:
- The basic white Wii U with 8GB storage, one GamePad, sensor bar and AC and HDMI wires. Priced at $300.
- The premium black Wii U with 32GB storage, all the basic package stuff, console and GamePad stands, GamePad charging dock and there’s also a copy of Nintendoland, too. Priced at $350.
The Wii U will launch on November 18th in the US, and on November 30th for Europe. No pricing for European regions has been revealed.
The limited storage options aren’t exactly what we’ve come to expect from current consoles – presumably you won’t be downloading many (or any) full retail games.
The Wii U will be Nintendo’s first console to retail above $250-300. The original Wii retailed at $250 in 2006, while the 3DS also launched with the $250 pricepoint, before being dropped to $170 five months later due to lower-than-expected sales for the console.

Ha, you might be waiting a while for a new Smash Bros sadly.
