Who Goes There? Brings The Thing To Your House
Can you believe The Thing is 35 years old and there hasn’t been a tabletop RPG game based on it? It’s even more of a missed opportunity when you think of the fact that it was based on The Thing from Another World, which came out back in the 50’s and was inspired by a book called “Who Goes There?” from the 30’s That’s a lot of time for no one to think of this idea.
Finally, someone did. Since it’s cheapest to license the book, “Who Goes There?” is being turned into a tabletop game by Certifiable Studios. Gameplay is pretty much the plot of The Thing transferred into RPG format — which, unsurprisingly, fits like a glove.
Who Goes There? is a cooperative 3 to 4 player (expandable to 6) growing paranoia game that takes anywhere from 90 to 120 minutes to complete.
At the beginning of the game all players are human and there is no reason not to trust each other completely, but as the temperature drops and mistakes are made players start doubting everything and everyone around them.
You must build, trade and upgrade to prepare yourself for the Antarctic terrain, rabid dog attacks, crazed madmen….and most importantly, the alien entity that is now loose in the camp.
Certifiable Studios’ project has been met with massive enthusiasm and it raised $578,793 from a $54,097 goal. Pretty much every goal was shattered and you can look forward to a robust Thing experience when this product is made physical in 2018.
