We Know Rise Of The Tomb Raider’s PS4 Release Date
Square-Enix’s Rise of the Tomb Raider was released last fall as a timed XBox One exclusive, with the promise that a PC version would eventually exist (it does now) and that a Playstation 4 version would come out in one year. It’s been nine months since then, so we should be hearing about the PS4 version right about…..now. Mark your calendars for October 11!
Those who have been patient will be rewarded: the PS4 version of Rise of the Tomb Raider will contain content than the XBox One version didn’t have. They’ll be able to enjoy “Blood Ties,” a new mission that has Lara defending her mansion from zombies. (Why? Who cares why, I’ve missed the truly crazy stuff in Tomb Raider games). Support for Playstation VR is also included and will allow players to experience Lara-ness in the first-person perspective.
The PS4 release is subtitled Rise of the Tomb Raider: 20 Year Celebration, and all the content released for XBox One as DLC will be accessible right out of the box, as well as a new higher difficulty level for Story Mode and new online co-op in Survival Mode. There are also some new optional outfits from various moments in Lara’s twenty years of spelunking (wonder if they’ll admit Angel of Darkness happened).
If you purchased the XBox One version, the 20 Year Celebration material will be available for you as DLC, with the exception of the Playstation VR stuff. Rise of the Tomb Raider: 20 Year Celebration swings onto Playstation 4 October 11.
