Warcraft: Bonds of Brotherhood Companion Graphic Novel Announced for New Film
Legendary Pictures’ upcoming, live-action Warcraft film is still about a year away from hitting theaters, but the film will have some additional transmedia material to go along with its upcoming release. This includes a new graphic novel prequel for the film that was recently announced by Blizzard during the company’s panel at the 2015 San Diego Comic-Con last week.
The prequel story will feature a new story written by Paul Cornell (Doctor Who) and conceived by Blizzard developer Chris Metzen. Artist Mat Broome (Batman: No Man’s Land, WildC.A.T.S., Witchblade) will be serving as the penciler for the book. Legendary and Blizzard have not revealed too many story details, but the upcoming film is set to be a “first contact story” between the humans and orcs. The orc characters do not appear to be featured on the sample artwork that was provided to Pop Geeks by Blizzard and Legendary (see below).
Warcraft: Bonds of Brotherhood will hit the shelves in May 2016, about a month before the upcoming big, budget live-action adaptation of the mega video game franchise. The Warcraft movie hits theaters on June 10, 2016. It will be available for the suggested retail price of $24.99. You can check out some sample cover artwork for the prequel graphic novel below:
