Walking Dead Executive Producer Says There’s Big Plans For Season 09
The Walking Dead is in an interesting place as a TV show. Despite it still being one of the most popular shows on TV, it has been seeing declines in its ratings. What’s more, this season brought a lot of controversy with the death of fan-favorite character Carl Grimes (who’s still alive in the comic) and rumors of other characters leaving as well.
What’s more, some people think that the All Out War storyline isn’t living up to its potential. But, regardless of all of that, Walking Dead has been renewed for a ninth season. And according to showrunner turned Executive Producer Scott Gimple, there are some big things coming in Season 09, including a brand new narrative that will be getting teased in the season finale. He noted to Entertainment Weekly:
“This episode isn’t just like these 15 episodes coming to a conclusion, but Angela [Kang] and myself and the writers had always talked about this in many ways being sort of the conclusion of the first eight seasons. This show will be very much a new show next year and with a bigger, new narrative. It was something I was really excited about getting into even before Season 8. And so there was just a certain weight in the air of the kind of conclusion that we were getting closer to. It was a weird graduation for everybody.”
Whether this works out the way they hope remains to be seen, we’ll just have to wait for the season finale to see what gets shown.
