Vivo, Sony and Netflix keeps delivering against Pixar
Netflix just released the trailer of Vivo, An animated Musical film starring Lin-Manuel Miranda.
Vivo is a Sony and Netflix original about a Kinkajou that embarks on an adventure. It is because he wanted to help out a friend to confess his love via song. Vivo (Lin-Manuel Miranda ) is a singing Kinkajou who has always been loyal to his friend Andres (Juan de Marcos González). If you want to know what is a Kinkajou, they are lemur-looking animals related to raccoons. (Paris Hilton kept one as a pet before but it scratched her face which leads to injury.) Humans and animals do not speak the same language but music makes them understand each other.
The setting of the Vivo is in Florida and it showcases the Cuban community of the State. The film has a mostly Hispanic cast which is a great way to give representation to the Latino community.
Andres has an unrequited love for his former dance partner Marta Sandoval (Gloria Estefan ). They got separated because she became a big star and that made him afraid to express his feelings.
He received an invitation letter to attend her farewell concert. Andres wanted to confess his love after all those years but tragedy happens. He will never confess his feelings in person. Now his pet Kinkajou Vivo will try to deliver a love letter from Andres in form of a song to Marta. He will be joined by Andres’ Grand-niece Gabi (Ynairaly Simo) to send the message to Marta.
Vivo felt like one of the cultural Pixar movies like Coco and Luca because this film is a musical. It is Sony’s first musical animated film but already delivered with worth watching animated films like “Into the SpiderVerse”. The movie was originally for a theatrical release but it ends up with Netflix instead.
