Spider Nest Games’ Vault of the Void is a deckbuilding game inspired by the mechanics of real-life competitive card games (CCG). Just as in those games, the player has complete control over their deck in Vault of the Void, and can shuffle their deck as they see fit. The game’s features include dynamic deck management, enemy previews before combat, and a full breakdown of every tile in an upcoming run. Sounds like the game would almost be too easy, but the developer compensates by making the battles super-challenging.
Currently, Vault of the Void is still in Early Access, but don’t sell it short — it’s got nine months’ worth of updates already and packs in plenty to see and do. over 300 unique cards, over 220 artifacts, 30 spells, and over 100 unique monsters are waiting to be found, and more is on the way. The next upcoming update is particularly interesting, as it’s a crossover with another deckbuilder.
Spider Nest is teaming up with developer Kaio Mens to for a game-to-game crossover event with the anime-themed Quantum Protocol. The next update is called Reflection of Sins and has you choosing one of seven cards themed around the sins, then doing battle with it for cosmetic card backs and in-game achievements. Climb up one floor and you’ll find Queen, the main character from Quantum Protocol. On this floor you can create 16 new Void Stones and collect QP-themed cosmetics. Since the latter game is more puzzle-oriented, the style of gameplay will shift a bit for these runs. Be prepared!
Vault of the Void is downloadable now on Steam Early Access for $14.99. The Quantum Protocol crossover occurs August 16.
