Uncork’d Releases Confession This January
Uncork’d Entertainment has announced they’ve acquired the US rights to the European thriller Confession, and will be giving it a limited theatrical run next January, followed by a release on VOD.
Confession works under the basic premise of a Catholic priest who has been taken hostage by a damaged man, but what’s different about it is that the entire movie takes place in “real time,” as in there are no cuts to later in the day, or the week. Everything happens in one continuous sequence. This priest can’t turn into a velociraptor like some other priests can; his only weapon is his mouth. While he’s a hostage, what can the priest get the man to confess?
“Confession is a very suspenseful, thrilling ride with terrific performances from two always-dependable performers, Moyer and Meany,” says Keith Leopard, president of Uncork’d Entertainment. “It’s an incredible film to kick off our exciting 2022 slate.” Andrew Nerger of Signature Entertainment negotiated the deal on behalf of the film team with Keith Leopard of Uncork’d Entertainment.
Confession stars Stephen Moyer (“True Blood”, “Fortunate Son”), Clare-Hope Ashitey (Children of Men) and Colm Meany (Seberg, “Star Trek: Deep Space Nine”), and was written and directed by David Beton (One Last Heist). Lucinda Rhodes Thakrar and Jeet Thakrar served as producers along with Elizabeth Williams as executive producer. The movie will open in select theaters January 21, 2022, followed by its VOD launch on January 25.
