Turns Out You WILL See Master Chief’s Face On The Halo Show
Last month a full trailer for the Halo TV adaption was released during the NFL AFC Championship game. At the time, we made the comment “We suppose the most controversial thing they could do would be to have MC remove his helmet. There’s no indication they will show his face from this trailer alone, but you never know.”
We were fifty-fifty on whether they’d really remove the helmet, but we definitely didn’t bet the folks behind the show would openly admit it before the show even started. Kiki Wolfkill, executive producer on the Halo TV series and 343 Industries’ Studio Head of Transmedia, told IGN last weekend you will see Master Chief’s face — maybe a lot of it.
“I think we set out to tell a character story and a personal story,” she said. “And once we really got into what that story was, it became clear that you really needed to see the person in the armor and under the helmet.”
It’s kinda important to remember the Halo TV series will not be a specific adaption of any game in the series. Rather, it will use elements from the lore to create its own storyline. This means you don’t have to consider TV Master Chief canon if you don’t want to. The video game version is still a mystery, besides his two eyeballs that were spotted at the end of one game.
Halo The Series premieres on Paramount+ March 24.

They don’t want to be compared with Mandalorian. That is the only reason I can think of why they will unmask Master Chief. Halo and Star War are not that similar, but comparisons will happen if he keeps his mask on. The eyes are the windows of the heart, so we can see his emotions and the acting prowess of the actor playing him if he has a visible face. His face doesn’t matter in the Games because it’s a first-person shooter. The Games meant him to be an empty canvas so the player can make him or herself Master Chief. Movie and TV are different, and Things have to be from 3rd person perspective.

Why do we need to see Chief’s visage? It breaks all the mystery and intrigue about him, which is unnecessary. Even with John’s expanded lore, the whole appeal with Master Chief is that he could still look like absolutely anyone. His being masked can make fans imagine that they are Master Chief.
Am I the only one who is noticing all of these Red Flags! People behind this project do not understand what Halo is. Are they even fans of the franchise? They want to cash out with the actor’s fame who will play him. I’m afraid I have to disagree with this one. Some things are meant to be secret together, or all the mystique will be gone.

I always wanted to see his face. To the people being sensitive about this issue, This version will not replace your precious canon. Fanbases can be super toxic and whiny sometimes.
First World problems are being taken as tough stuff to cry all over. You are bitching about a fictional soldier showing his face to the world. Sorry, but It is just visual media, and Television works differently from video games. You needed to accept changes because that is how the world runs.

This is a business decision. It is an excellent decision because it made people talk—more people talking means more intrigue, leading to high ratings.

Being officially non-canon does not bother me too much, and I can understand why since it is too risky to create a new innovative story involving Master Chief when we have plenty of novels that have already done so, especially in his beginning. The demographic would be smaller if they expect the audience to be aware a lot of already happened, and we are jumping into mid-career Master Chief. The only way a Master Chief centric TV Show works is if they adapt Halo Silent Storm, then Troy Denning other novels. Are we surprised at this point? I knew the helmet was coming off as soon as I found out who was playing him, not because it was his idea, but because he is well-known, which could be a breakout role for him. Its Pornstache from Orange is the new Black! If it were a nobody, they probably would not do it. His face recognition can contribute to the success of the show.

To the people who are angry, You are not the target demographic. The shows’ ratings will be in gutter if you hardcore fans get favored.

You can’t blame people because all these adaptations had been so bad.

What a Polarizing news! I want to see his face too just like how much I want to see the face of the Mayor’s secretary from PowerPuff girls.

Part of the appeal of Master Chief is that his face is hidden. He was created that way because he was our extension to the game. Who the hell thinks this is a good idea? Giving him a face will disconnect his connection with the Halo Fandom! Hollywood should never touch videogame IPs. Let video games stay as video games.🤬😤🤮🤮

Pornstache the Jail Guard from Orange is the New Black will be playing him!! On that series he started as this sleazy cop who very damnable but when a prisoner fooled him that he got her pregnant, he was suddenly became this caring man who wants to marry her and be the father of her baby. His character goes full 360. Pablo Schreiber is a talented actor. I think he’ll be a great fit for this part.

Anger is one of the emotions used to make marketing work. Sucks for the fans but it works because bad publicity is still a publicity.

They are Afraid of Mandalorian comparisons because the show aired first. People won’t care if Master Chief existed first.

To many superheroes hide they face. Mater Chief is not superhero and he don’t have to hide his identity. So there is no reason keep helmet all time.
