Tomb Raider Movie Reboot To Mimic Game Reboot
You can often find that the better versions of video game movies are the ones that follow closely to the mythology, or style, that the games set before them. That is the style that the upcoming Assassin’s Creed film appears to be taking, as well as the reboot of the Tomb Raider movie franchise.
Oddly enough, the Tomb Raider movies were very successful. But you could argue that was because of star Angelina Jolie. For the next film, they aim to do something that Crystal Dynamics did with Lara Croft in the game reboot: Maker her a more interesting person:
“I think making Lara Croft feel like a real human being, that’s definitely something we want to bring to the big screen as well,” Tomb Raider reboot director Roar Uthaug said to IGN. “I think we’ll want to make people relate to Lara as a character. I’m hoping to bring some of my Norwegian sensibilities to the franchise.”
He notes that for him, he wants Lara to be a truly strong character, regardless of gender.
“I’ve always been a fan of strong female characters,” he added, “and I think I’ve had strong female characters in all my previous movies, so that’s something I thought was interesting.”
There is no release date for the Tomb Raider movie reboot.
