Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition skipping PC launch
Crystal Dynamics has confirmed via a forum FAQ thread that the upcoming Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition will not be released for the PC.
Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition was planned “from the ground up” for the PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One and will therefore not see a PC release.
The game’s story and core action has been left untouched but it has been fully rebuilt for the two new consoles to showcase their capabilities.
“The team didn’t just up-rez the game. They pulled it apart and rebuilt it with new technology, finally allowing us to reach the vision for Tomb Raider that we always wanted.”
The Definitive Edition will see the game run in 1080p with added weather and lighting effects, improved physics and more. There are also additions for the new consoles where Xbox One owners will be able to swap weapons, attachments and navigate the menu with voice commands; they will also be able to inspect relics with hand gestures. PlayStation 4 owners will see their Dualshock 4 controller light up red and orange when using the torch as well as quick flashes when Lara is shooting.
Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition will retail for $59.99 for both the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on January 28th 2014.
