TNT Releases Plot Synopses For First Two Episodes Of Snowpiercer
TNT’s Snowpiercer premieres May 17. Based on the 2013 cult hit, the premise is that after a global natural disaster brings about a new Ice Age, the last remnants of humanity now survive on a perpetually running Noah’s Ark-like train…though it remains to be seen how long they can survive each other.
The same social and economic problems that plague humanity today are still present in the future dystopia of Snowpiercer. The train cars are divided into class structures, and the main plot is of the lower class staging a revolt against the elites in the front car.
TNT has released official descriptions of the pilot episode as well as the episode following it. Here’s what we know…
Sunday, May 17, at 9:00pm ET/PT
Snowpiercer, the Great Ark Train, has kept the last remnants of humanity alive for almost seven years. A rigid class system maintains order, with First Class holding power over workers, while a condemned Prison Class struggles to survive in the Tail. Now, a grisly murder is stoking class division, so Melanie Cavill (Jennifer Connelly), the powerful head of hospitality, deputizes a dangerous rebel to help solve the killing — Andre Layton (Daveed Diggs), the world’s only surviving homicide detective.

“Prepare to Brace”
Layton (Daveed Diggs) uses his new position as train detective to investigate the murder while gathering intel for the revolution on the side. Meanwhile, Melanie (Jennifer Connelly) faces a resource crisis, with potentially drastic consequences for the entire train.
