This Fall, Watch Out For…My Villain Academia
As any follower of My Hero Academia knows, the title refers to U.A. High, an institute of learning for future superheroes in training. But if you’re a villain instead, where do you go? The second half of MHA’s Season 5 will follow the bad guys for a change as we explore…My Villain Academia!
We’ve barely seen the show’s villains at all this season, as the Joint Training Arc was going on — where U.A.’s Class 1-A and Class 1-B were pitted against one another to see which wing was stronger. Currently the show is midway through the Endeavor Agency Arc, where Deku, Bakugo, and Todoroki try their hand at Pro Hero work under the guidance of the city’s current top hero, Endeavor. But after that’s done, the villains will get some long-overdue time to shine in their own arc.
According to Funimation’s summary, “The League of Villains is dead broke and getting nowhere fast. All For One’s enormous bodyguard Gigantomachia arrives to pulverize them into shape. But before they’re back on their feet, the sinister Meta Liberation Army, led by Re-Destro, comes out of the woodwork to destroy the League and anyone who tries to regulate Quirks.” Yup, it’s Bad Vs. Worse in this story, which will reveal previously unknown facts about Tomura Shigaraki’s past.
The My Villain Academia arc begins in sub form August 21, with the dub version premiering a few weeks later, exclusively on the Funimation app.
