The Walking Dead Renewed for Eighth Season
Season seven hasn’t premiered yet, and the news will likely come as a surprise to no one, but AMC announced today that the hit TV series has been renewed for an eighth season. The announcement comes just days before the upcoming Season 7 premiere for the show.
The Walking Dead Season 8 will later premiere in late 2017. It will be marked by the 100th episode for the show. Speaking on the news AMC, Sundance TV and AMC Studios President Charlie Collier stated: “Eeny, meeny, miny, more. What a joy to partner with Robert Kirkman, Scott M. Gimple and some of the hardest-working people in television to bring The Walking Dead to the fans. And, most important, thanks to those fans for breathing life into this remarkable series right along with us.”
On top of that, Talking Dead, the live after-show hosted by Chris Hardwick, has also been renewed for another 16 episodes. Currently, Talking Dead is the highest-rated talk show on TV, and it’s the No. 2 show on cable after The Walking Dead.
The Walking Dead will return for its seventh season premiere on Sunday, October 23 at 9:00 pm/8:00 pm CST. The premiere will be followed by a 90-minute Talking Dead live episode, which is being held at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery. The show will feature host Chris Hardwick, all the cast members in Negan’s lineup and Lucille.
