The NES Classic Hack Now Allows For All 700+ Games
Shortly after the release of the NES Classic, hackers found a way to alter the code of the device to accept more than just the 30 games that came with it. The hack was primitive at first, but eventually a way was found to store as many as 80 games on the Classic. The ultimate goal was to find a way to store every game, but the problem was, there was a wall that prevented this from happening: the fact that the Classic’s internal storage had a limit of 300 MB.
But after months of experimentation, it looks like the hack has now achieved the 700-plus games goal. What made it possible was the newly-added ability to use zipped files, and the much-needed use of a folder system. Cluster, the author of the patch known as Hakchi, says this newest update is the most intuitive one to use yet. He’s even added a Turbo Button feature that works via the X and Y buttons on the Wii Classic Controller (there’s also a way to use the original controller, but it’s cumbersome). The hack still contains some bugs, but if you don’t mind jailbreaking your NES Classic, you can turn it into an all-in-one portable mini-system.
Now the problem just becomes finding one in the first place.
