The Last of Us Turning into a Franchise?
It appears as though Sony are looking to turn Naughty Dog’s most sought after game of 2013, The Last of Us, into a franchise having registered domain names.
Registrations for the domain names lastofus2.com and lastofus3.com have been found online thanks to Kotaku’s mysterious superannuation. However, this doesn’t guarantee a sequel as it is normally common practice for big name companies to register domain names, just to be on the safe side. Having said that, every game developed by Naughty Dog so far has been turned into a franchise, so there’s a high possibility of a sequel.
The Last of Us is due for worldwide release on June 14th, but if you can’t wait that long, the demo that came with God of War: Ascension will be going live on May 31st.

I think that this would be a bad thing. Last of Us has always struck me as something that only needs one game, and I can almost guarantee it’s going to rock hard. I don’t want to play the same game 4 or 5 times, sometimes if it really is awesome you only need the original entry. Further sequels just for the sake of money water it down.

As Naeem rightly says, Sony probably bought the domains in case Naughty Dog one day decides to make follow ups – you know, pre-emptive measures and all that.
However, I agree with you. If ND has any sense, they’ll pour everything into making TLoU the best it can be, then move on to something else. Time to bring Crash back, if you ask me… #ICanDream

I’m going to have to play the game first to decide if a sequel would be a bad idea or not.
