The Inhumans: Anson Mount Cast as Black Bolt
The casting news continues to roll out this week for Marvel’s upcoming TV series, The Inhumans. Marvel Studios confirmed today that Anson Mount of the TV show Hell on Wheels has been cast in the lead role of Black Bolt for the show. Mount joins the cast opposite Iwan Rheon, who was previously announced in the cast as Black Bolt’s brother, Maximus.
Black Bolt is the enigmatic, commanding King of the Inhumans. His voices is so powerful that even a whisper could destroy a city. How Black Bolt is executed and interpreted in the show should be interesting, especially when he is a largely silent character, but he’s also one of the leaders. The upcoming show is going to be the epic adventure of the Royal Family and Black Bolt.
Speaking on the show and Mount’s casting, Marvel’s Head of TV and executive producer Jeph Loeb stated, “Anson loves the challenge of playing a character who will only communicate silently. His enthusiasm mixed with his imposing almost regal persona made it easy to see why he is our Black Bolt.” Executive producer and showrunner Scott Buck added, “Black Bolt is a character whose deep complexity must be conveyed without uttering a single word, and I’m very excited to have Anson on board to bring him to life.”
The upcoming series is slated to debut later on in IMAX theaters for the first two episodes later this fall, before moving to ABC. Roel Reine is directing the first two episodes, and the show is co-produced by Marvel Television and ABC Studios.
