The Entire Super Mario Maker Hardcover Book Is Online Now For Free
When Super Mario Maker goes on sale tomorrow, the disc will come with a hardcover book filled with design ideas, intended to inspire the program’s user. It’s partly there to justify the $60 cost of the game (I figure), but you don’t actually have to spend a single cent to leaf through it. A PDF of the entire book has been posted to Nintendo’s Japanese website. Yes, by Nintendo.
Why is it there? Because people who buy Super Mario Maker digitally won’t have the book, and so the digital copy links to that file instead. The PDF is missing all text, and I assume that text is superimposed once the file is accessed from the Wii U.
In other last-minute Super Mario Maker news, remember that nine-day limitation beta testers were finding that prevented people from accessing some tiers of content on the disc until a certain amount of time had passed? You can forget about it, because a new patch will be applied to the retail version the day it’s available that will significantly shorten the amount of time required to access everything.
Instead of being timed by day, the new unlocking system introduces new parts and components based on how long you’ve had the game running and how deeply you’ve delved into it. Sounds like a smarter and more satisfying method….the casual users who only pick Super Mario Maker up for a few minutes a day will be gently eased into the program, while more hardcore, advanced designers will get the materials they need as quickly as they can learn how to use it.
Super Mario Maker hits store shelves tomorrow morning, or you can wait tonight until it shows up in the eShop.
