The Disney Afternoon Collection Is Coming
The Disney Afternoon is making a comeback of sorts. Well, the actual Disney Afternoon isn’t coming back. However, Capcom announced this week The Disney Afternoon Collection. This is a new compilation set of six games featuring the Disney TV characters from the beloved Disney Afternoon block of the 80s and 90s. The set will feature six fully restored classic games in 1080p HD.
The set is due out in North America and Europe later this April for $19.99. It will be available for a digital download release on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Windows PC. Here’s the breakdown of the games in the set:
- Chip ‘n Dale Rescue Rangers – This classic lets players team up with a friend in co-op play as they assume the roles of the mischievous Chip and Dale as they take on memorable villain Fat Cat and attempt to solve the mystery of a missing kitten.
- Chip ‘n Dale Rescue Rangers 2 – Fat Cat has escaped and his plans are even more dastardly this time. The titular heroes and supporting cast Monterey Jack, Gadget, and Zipper must stop Fat Cat from his evil dream of world domination!
- Darkwing Duck – Play as the original caped crusader and fight a city full of criminals from the infamous F.O.W.L. organization in this action-packed platforming epic.
- DuckTales – In this iconic platforming adventure, players help Scrooge McDuck fill his feathery pockets with vast riches from across the world.
- DuckTales 2 – The sequel to the original game comes jam-packed with more action and an even bigger caper set in new locations like the Bermuda Triangle and Niagara Falls!
- TaleSpin – Take to the skies as Baloo the bear navigates his plane through exotic and dangerous locations in this side-scrolling shoot-em-up.
All the games will feature new and improved HD visuals from the original. The games will also have a variety of filtering options, so players can replicate the classic retro look and feel of the originals. There are also going to be new gameplay modes called Boss Rush and Time Attack for each game. For Boss Rush Mode, players have to battle through the boss encounters consecutively. For Time Attack, players play against the clock in time-based gameplay, with online leaderboards that track the game times.
Another new feature is Rewind, which is designed for new players. Rewind will apparently allow players to rewind time and recover from some previous blunders. There will also be a lot of content to view in the Disney Museum, including concept art, character art, advertisements and music.
