The CW’s Fall 2021 Schedule Contains Some Surprises
The CW said they would reveal their fall schedule today, and they kept their word. A lot of shows have been shuffled around, while others are mysteriously MIA. First off, even though The CW officially announced Naomi and All American: Homecoming as picked up for series, neither of them will show up on the fall schedule. Instead the only new (scripted) series will be the remake of The 4400 (and it still feels too soon).
Unscripted is a bigger curveball: Sunday nights are devoted solely to game shows and reality, with the revival of Nickelodeon’s Legends Of The Hidden Temple at 8 and an Americanized version of the British reality show Killer Camp at 9. Why do this? According to boss Mark Pedowitz, it’s due to production issues brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic. “Some point we’ll come back to scripted programming. At this point in time, it’s just a production issue,” he tells Deadline.
Errm, okay, but you’ve got plenty of scripted shows here you could’ve plugged into those slots and given them a better shot. *deep breath* WHY IN THE EVER LOVING (EXPLETIVE) is Nancy Drew on Fridays at 9 buried under Penn and Teller??? I just started watching this and it’s actually really good. Whenever a network senses I like something, they move quickly to bury it, so…it’s actually my fault. Sorry, everyone.
In happier news, we’re getting a Beebo Christmas special! Beebo Saves Christmas will involve the Arrowverse furball traveling to the North Pole with some fuzzy colleagues to stop a rogue elf from shutting down Santa’s workshop. Though an animated special is new territory for The CW, it will not be the only one: The Scooby Doo Reunion Special “sees the Scooby gang reunite at Warner Bros. Studios to reminisce about their favorite cases and how they were filmed…but it turns out that the backlot may have its own monster problem.”
