The CW Reveals Full 2020-2021 Schedule — And Yikes!
The CW revealed its full schedule for the 2020-2021 season this morning. We were warned with a few subtle hints what this was going to look like, but it still doesn’t dampen the shock. The reality has now hit…it’s going to be a LONG time before we see several of our favorites ever again.
As we guessed earlier, the reason CW picked up broadcast rights to Swamp Thing and a few Canadian shows is because a solid chunk of their lineup won’t be ready in time for the fall, due to COVID-19. In their place, expect a lot of reality / game show content and the aforementioned Canadian placeholders:
MONDAY
8 pm Whose Line Is It Anyway?
8:30 pm Whose Line Is It Anyway?
9 pm Penn & Teller: Fool Us
TUESDAY
8 pm Swamp Thing
9 pm Tell Me a Story
WEDNESDAY
8 pm Two Sentence Horror Stories
8:30 pm Dead Pixels
9 pm Coroner
THURSDAY
8 pm Supernatural (Final episodes)
9 pm The Outpost
FRIDAY
8 pm WORLD’S FUNNIEST ANIMALS
9 pm Penn & Teller: Fool Us
SUNDAY
8 pm Masters of Illusion
9 pm Pandora
Note that The Outpost and Pandora make appearances here. Traditionally these shows are run during the summer, but CW may be withholding them for the fall now (assuming these aren’t repeats). With the exception of Supernatural, we won’t be seeing anything familiar until at least January 2021. This is what the schedule will look like then:
MONDAY
8 pm All American
9 pm Black Lightning
TUESDAY
8 pm The Flash
9 pm Superman & Lois
WEDNESDAY
8 pm Riverdale
9 pm Nancy Drew
THURSDAY
8 pm Walker
9 pm Legacies
FRIDAY
8 pm Penn & Teller: Fool Us (new night)
9 pm Whose Line Is it Anyway? (new time slot)
SUNDAY
8 pm Batwoman
9 pm Charmed (new time slot)
You might have noticed half the shows are still missing. Where is Legends of Tomorrow? Where is Supergirl? The answer to the second question is that, on top of everything else, Melissa Benoist is very pregnant…so Supergirl was going to take a hiatus anyway whether there was a pandemic or not. What this means is that Charmed has been given a miraculous second chance at its original time slot, even though Season 2 was an absolute mess.
The whereabouts of new shows Republic of Sarah and Kung-Fu, as well as In The Dark, Roswell and Dynasty are still unknown, but their seasons have been confirmed. Ordinarily all those shows (and Legends) appear midseason, but “midseason” just became “beginning of season.” It will have to be sorted out later.
The only remaining show is Katy Keene and CW says they’re still on the fence about a renewal. Which for The CW is saying a lot (how bad must the ratings be?)

What is most interesting about the CW Fall Schedule to you and why? Is there anything else you wish they did instead?
I’m looking forward to the return of The Flash and the debut of Superman & Lois
