The CW Gives Early Renewals To Seven Shows
The CW made a surprise announcement this morning: they’ve already given seven of their shows a renewal for the 2017-2018 season.
If you had to guess, you could easily predict five of them: every superhero series (Arrow, The Flash, Supergirl, Legends of Tomorrow) and the uncancellable Supernatural (now up for a thirteenth season). The other two are Jane the Virgin and Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, two critical darlings that earn anemic ratings yet perform much better on streaming services like Netflix. Those two shows also boast very strong, rabid fanbases; the kind that were poised to launch a rescue campaign if the word hadn’t come so soon.
Missing from this list is any series that hasn’t aired its upcoming season yet….iZombie, The 100, The Originals and Reign. Though we hear Reign’s next season will be its last, it’s up to season 4. The CW hasn’t cancelled a show after Season 3 since Veronica Mars, which I’m sure they regretted later. If you can’t tell, I love iZombie and I want to remain optimistic.
What’s left are the two non-superhero shows The CW introduced last fall: Frequency and No Tomorrow. The latter’s name now feels especially apt. But get this: The CW is so nice to its viewers, it has promised to wrap up those two shows’ storylines in a digital format later on if they are truly cancelled. What a bunch of swell guys they are!
The only CW show that has the word “cancelled” officially slapped on it is The Vampire Diaries, which is being explicitly promoted as going through its final season.

Oh, wow. What's even bigger news to me is that The CW is now called Felicity Network. I also didn't realize soon that "Felicity Network" has a lot of superhero shows. I'm not really a fan of most CW shows though.

I never knew that the CW is Felicity Network, kind of weird to me. I used to enjoy watching that network but now the shows are a bit boring for my liking. I am glad Supernatural is still going strong I only watched it a few times and it was pretty good but I didn't want to get to into it. The only show I really watched is now getting canceled which is the Vampire Diaries, at least it lasted pretty long.
