The Cleaning Lady is a crime drama about covering crime
Elodie Yung (She is known for playing Elektra Natchios in Daredevil and The Guardians) stars on the cleaning lady as a Thony Dela Rosa. She is a Cambodian Doctor who brought her son to America to have him cured of his extreme illness. This show is written by Miranda Kwok who is known for writing The 100. This show is actually the remake of the Argentine drama La chica que limpia.
She is staying with her Filipino sister-in-law in hopes the system can cure her son. Her son’s condition didn’t get better so she ends up overstaying making her an illegal alien. Most likely the treatment for her son’s condition is only available in the US. The theme of the show fits with the timely issue of immigration.
Many highly educated illegal immigrants end up doing jobs most Americans don’t want for the sake of survival. Thony will be forced to work as a cleaning lady even though is beneath her educational and professional background.
She will witness a mob doing a crime and she begged for her life in exchange for cleaning the crime scene for them. Her medical background goes well with her ability to manipulate a crime scene.
Her newfound talent impressed the mob to hire her for more clean-up gigs.. Elodie Yung is a French actress of Cambodian descent.
The show is like a reverse CSI because it is about covering crime instead of solving it.
The show has potential to be great but it’s airing on Fox. It is hard to impress FOX as a TV Network because they cancel TV shows left and right. I hope this show will be successful enough to have a complete run. Fox ordered 10 episodes for its first season and each episode will be an hour each.
