Tekken 7, Street fighter V and Mortal Kombat 11 end of an era
Tekken 7 removed the Denuvo Anti-tamper on the Steam version of the game back in October. Denuvo Anti-Tamper is protected from piracy so the game and its DLC cannot be pirated. Usually, Games removes it if they will stop having DLC support. Most likely Namco will now focus on their next fighting game project. It could be Tekken 8, Tekken Tag tournament for or Tekken X Street Fighter. It already sold over 7 million units and until now it is still an active part of the esports scene.
Tekken 7 is also the first game in the series that has the most guest characters. From Akuma from Street Fighter, Geese Howard from Fatal Fury, Noctis from Final Fantasy XV to Negan of the Walking Dead.
It also introduced new characters and some of them are a representation of countries barely represented in video games. Josie Rizal becomes a representative of the Philippines. Shaheen is the first Saudi Arabian fighting game character. Lidia Sobieska, The prime minister of Poland gets to represent older women in fighting games.
This November is going to be the release of Lukas, The final DLC character of Street Fighter V. After that Capcom will concentrate on their next project. It could be Street Fighter VI or the Elusive, Darkstalkers 4. Street Fighter V was first thought to be a failure because it has bare-bones content at launch but the game manage to redeem itself from all the DLCs and updates it got. Familiar faces who were dormant for a long time like Karin, R.Mika Birdie made a return. Rival Schools characters like Akira Kazama joined the Street Fighter Universe and this game have a record number of blond-haired characters. Street Fighter V has flaws but it managed to redeem itself and it stayed alive as a community.
Mortal Kombat 11 also had a great run. It has a record number of guest characters and unlike the past Guest characters, they had action Ip characters instead of horror film characters. The Horror film characters moved to Dead by Daylight instead. Mortal Kombat 11 is also a celebration of Mileena’s return. After she was killed off in Mortal Kombat X. Her fans were aggressive to social media and they made Ed Boon give in and bring her back. Mortal Kombat 11, is the 1st fighting game to have a second DLC story mode. Now Netherrelm studios are currently working on their next project. The only updates Mortal Kombat 11 will have now balance patches.
