Take A Look At Rise Of The Tomb Raider’s New Chapter
The official Tomb Raider Youtube channel has put out a new video that takes an in-depth look at Blood Ties, the new chapter that will be available this fall in Rise of the Tomb Raider: 20 Year Celebration on PS4, and as DLC on XBox One and PC. It appears an old friend is coming back.
An old friend that’s very fat, airy, and has 83 rooms. You know what I’m talking about….it’s Croft Manor! It used to be that every Tomb Raider game let you explore Croft Manor at some point, but then the entire place was torched in Tomb Raider Underworld. Good thing the very next game was a complete reboot, so poof — the manor returned! Except you couldn’t visit it.
Now, for the first time in a while, players will be given an explorable Croft Manor as part of the new Blood Ties chapter. Everything is under sheets and cobwebs because Lara doesn’t really live in it yet. But she romped through it as a kid, and it’s near and dear to her heart. When her estranged uncle tries to claim that Croft Manor should be legally his, Lara’s got to raid her own house to prove she’s the one rightful heir!
There’s usually nothing to shoot or attack in Croft Manor….just puzzles and exploration. So to pack some action into this area, there’s a sequence where Lara falls asleep and dreams her home is being attacked by zombies. No kidding. I blame demographics and the hard-to-please bro market for this.
Square-Enix says players should get “at least an hour” of playtime out of Croft Manor, and it’s not clear yet how much of Blood Ties it takes up. But there should be plenty to do when Lara finally swings onto the PS4 October 11.
