ZombiU is the best game that no one played, and Ubisoft wants to give it a second chance by porting the game to other consoles and the PC. The major problem is that the game was designed around the Wii U hardware — how can you effectively port gameplay that requires a second screen in your lap if no other system has such a thing? It won’t be easy, but they’re going to try.
Ubisoft revealed today that one of the flagship Wii U titles of 2012, ZombiU, is now going multi-platform starting next month. Zombi will soon become available for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Windows PC. The game is slated to have its multi-platform launch starting August 18. The game will be available as a digital download for the aforementioned platforms.
Say what you will about the Wii U, but one thing it honestly had at the beginning of its run was console exclusives. Ubisoft even went so far as to give the Wii U two of its games exclusively. True, Rayman Legends later went multi-platform, but the intent was still there. Though not a success, ZombiU showed the potential that the new Nintendo console had, all the while delivering an interesting experience for fans to try out. Sadly, the low sales made it so a sequel (which was actually in development) never got made. So many believed it would slip away and never be spoken of again.
