Julian Gollop, the British designer responsible for creating the X-COM series of games, has set up a crowdfunding campaigning to help raise the funds for his latest title. Phoenix Point is aiming to raise $500,000 through the site Fig and has already reached more than 60% of that target thanks to the contributions of 4,600 backers. With some 42 days left remaining of the project, it looks likely that it will be successful.
XCOM: The Board Game is bringing the alien invasion strategy game to our tabletops. This game is said to be a cooperative strategy game where one to four players aim to defend Earth from aliens.

2K and Firaxis Games announced today that XCOM®: Enemy Within, the expanded experience of the Game of the Year* award-winning strategy title XCOM: Enemy Unknown, will be available in North America on November 12, 2013 and internationally on November 15, 2013 for Windows PC, Xbox 360 games and entertainment system from Microsoft, PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system and Mac® (distributed by Feral Interactive).

I have been keeping up with the XCOM franchise in the last few years due to having played the original 1990’s game X-COM: UFO Defense. So when I heard 2K was doing a reboot of the franchise, but putting a modern first-person spin on it, I got excited. It just so happens XCOM: Enemy Unknown has been pushed back yet again.
2k Games and Developer Firaxis have released a pretty cool trailer for XCOM: Enemy Unknown. Unlike the other XCOM title, this one is much more true to the original series and features the same brand of tactical strategy. Personally, I find myself pretty damn interested at this point.
